Work Hard, Play Harder

Eris got 100% on her spelling pretest today so she doesn't have to take the test on Friday! She is very good about doing her homework when she gets home from school even while expressing her funny personality. She also enjoys practicing her keyboard for her music class. She is currently learning melodic pattern notations, keyboard geography, fingering, primary chords and staff position. She is getting pretty good at singing the melody while playing the harmony. Next year she will learn how to compose her own music and lyrics. She loves it and is a total natural! We are so proud of you Eris!

We Love Storytime!

After our weekly storytime at the library, Shayla and Gavin wanted to continue reading stories together. They got up on the rocking chair and looked at books while giggling and rocking back and forth. It's so fun to see Shayla try to read to Gavin and how patient and interested he is when she does. She's even sporting her favorite look; a dress with mismatched headband and high heels.

A package for Gavin

Gavin received a package today from Grandma and Grandpa Lewis and was so excited to see what was inside. He gave me the shirt to put on him and immediately sat down to look at his new book.

Our Little Dancers

I recently received some pictures from the girls' dance recital back in June. They look so pretty in their costumes! Eris did amazing and didn't miss a beat in her dance. I thought that her class did the best in the entire performance. It was perfect! Shayla on the other hand, had a lot of fun but spent most of her time walking back and forth across the stage and trying to talk to her friends while dancing a few steps here and there. At least she looked super cute doing it!

Another Stephen?

When Shayla was little we used to always say how much she reminded us of my baby brother Stephen when he was younger. Anytime she would do something completely off the wall or crazy we often labeled it as "she's another Stephen!" So now our calm, sweet Gavin is starting to fall under that category. When he was done with his apple sauce he decided to dump it onto his head and leave the bowl there as a hat! I guess we may have "another Stephen" on our hands.

We're so glad when daddy comes home...

I can always tell when daddy is about to come inside because Kudos tail wags rapidly back and forth and the kids rush in a full sprint to the door. After a 3 day wait, they were extra excited to see him this morning, practically tackling him to the ground! I love how happy and content they all look. You can tell the kids are definitely ready to spend some quality time with their daddy.

Daddy's Boy

I used to be able to say that Gavin was a momma's boy but he is definitely preferring daddy lately. Anytime daddy's home, Gavin is right along side him. He enjoys sitting on his lap during every meal and getting picked up several times throughout the day. Of course once you pick him up, he wants down so it's a constant cycle but that's what keeps life fun! He also loves jumping in puddles, (another daddy trait).
Spencer was telling us the other day how when he was younger, he would go hunting for all the puddles to jump in and as he grew older to drive through. Even still, we can't drive straight home without driving through a big puddle and spraying water everywhere! It's a good thing he's able to curb some of that at the firestation with a fire hose! Maybe we have another firefighter in the making with our Gavers?
