Dashing through the... Snow?
So it's definitely not snowing here in the beautiful sunshine but Gavin and his sweet play date, Issy, are taking a sleigh ride anyway. She is so much fun and I can tell you that I wouldn't mind adding this pic to their wedding video someday! She also loves spending time with Shayla reading stories and playing dress-up. Here is a pic of Shayla playing teacher as she reads to "the class". She has even picked up on the licking her finger before turning the page thing.

2010 Family Pictures Finally Finished!
We rushed to get our family pictures taken last minute and are so happy to have them over with for the year. The kids did surprisingly well and especially enjoyed getting sticky with their hard-earned candycanes when the pictures were over. Then we all attended the Family Activity at the elementary school where the kids participated in some fun stories and crafts from other countries. We even got to enjoy cookies and milk afterward!
Go 49ers!
So being the NON-sports addict that I am, I have no idea about how good teams are, who they are playing, what sport they even play half the time... But I do remember that my dad used to love the 49ers so when I saw this little outfit handed down to Gavin, I had to get some pics in it since it is already too small. Gavin is quite the ball player and has an amazing arm on him already. He loves to play catch with anyone and even positions himself in a certain stance before he throws the ball and then follows through with a new one after it is thrown. I know that he'll be teaching me the ins and outs of sports in the years to come. Who knows maybe I'll become a sports fanatic in the long run???
Piles of Leaves
"Every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn tree."
-Emily Bronte
"I still get wildly enthusiastic about things... I play with leaves. I skip down the street and run against the wind."-Leo F. Buscaglia
"Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things."
-Robert Brault
Eris & Gavin enjoyed building a huge pile of leaves together with the help of daddy and a friend at the park. Of course after the pile reached above their heads, they buried themselves in it, jumping and playing in the mess. Oh the simple pleasures of life!
Hop, Skip, & A Jump Away
It looks like Shayla is following in big-sister's footsteps (and maybe some of her mom's too). She is loving to learn the jump rope. She has already mastered doing all sorts of tricks on the trampoline, & skipping around the house but she is still working on the fun things that Eris has recently learned to do; hopskotch and jumping rope. She's quickly catching on though and before we know it, they'll be in head-to-head competition.
Future American Idol?
Gavin rocking out with the iCarly microphone. Any time there is any music on, he starts grooving and trying to sing along. He even shows off his unique rhythm as he moves to the beat. Next thing you know, I see him sort through daddy's hats in the closet and put one on backwards, then flashes his signature smile. Maybe we'll see him in all his glory as part of a future American Idol?

Crafty Kids
Oh how the kids love their crafts. Eris brought home a mask she made at school while learning about the first Thanksgiving. She knows the entire story by heart and continues afterward with the knowledge she has gained about her favorite historical native american's Pocahontas and Sacagawea. She always brags to her friends that she is related to Pocahontas somewhere down the line on Grandpa Hogue's side and she seems to love Sacagawea because her name is so fun to say. Shayla came home with a cute little turkey hat that she colored to her 3-year-old perfection and Gavin even helped daddy with a fun turkey made from our library's storytime.
Deck the Halls
We were pleasantly surprised to come home to the house being all festively lit and the tree being set up waiting for us to finish it off. Eris snapped a picture of the house decked out in Christmas lights and then we were all thrilled to put the decorations on the tree and around the house while listening to fun Christmas music. Their favorite part was probably standing on the ladder with daddy putting up all of the Santa's that we inherited from Grandma Pearl a couple of years ago. It was so fun to watch them sing and prance around with bright eyes full of excitement for the Christmas season.
